November 10 is our lunar observation of the Great Festival known as Calan Gaeaf (Welsh) or Samhain (Gaelic). The associated solar holiday is Halloween.
This day holds the energy of the Station of Descent. The journey undertaken in this time of Calan Gaeaf (Samhain) is done with the intention of uncovering the Shadow. It is a process of going within and seeking out that which brings us pain, leaves us unfulfilled and those things into which we tend to fall again and again to manifest patterns in our lives that keep us away from ourselves and the fulfillment of our dreams.
In Celetic (Welsh) tradition, this day marked the beginning of winter. The last of the harvest had been collected and stored away. The livestock would have been sheltered in winter barracks after meat for winter had been slaughtered and smoked for winter. All food, fodder, and fuel for winter had to be stored away by this day. All accounts were settled on this day - rents and debts paid and wages distributed - at the feast during the festival.
The actual day of Calan Gaeaf/ Samhain was/is considered to be a day out of time. It is not considered to be part of the old year nor part of the new year - thus making it a day of great religious and spiritual significance. "It was believed that on this day that was not a day, and at this time that was not a time, the Otherworld and its inhabitants could be easily accessed." Rites and ceremonies were performed that contacted the dead and retold stories of the Gods, Goddesses, and the Great Heroes/Heroines. Special divinations for the coming year were performed.
Calan Gaeaf/ Samhain was/is considered a fire festival drawing you to take account, reflect upon the deeds and ways of the past, and prepare for the newness coming to you.
First, we will gather to have a lively Meet and Greet and Tasting Session. You will be able to meet me and the Graduates of the Earth Path School Intensive Trainings, connect with each other, and tour the Earth Path School.
Rites and Celebrations
We will gather as a Community and have two Circles of Rites and Celebrations.
Calan Gaeaf Healing Circle
Our Galan Gaeaf Healing Circle will be the Kindling of the Need Fire an ancient act of renewal that calls forth the energy to release that which no longer serves us. The Need Fire will serve as a portal between the worlds into which we will caste our personal symbols of Shadow Transformation.
While the one on one Plant Spirit Healing Sessions are going on I will have worked with the group to craft your Personal Symbol of Shadow Transformation. We will work with only natural materials and the herb Mugwort.
During the Need Fire ceremony you will imbibe the Personal Symbol you created with your intention to release your Shadow Transformation. As you cast this into the Need Fire you will be announcing to the Universal Forces your intention to release that which you no longer want to hold onto.
The Need Fire will take the energy and intention imbibed in your Personal Symbol and hold it in the Otherworld to assist you in the changes you seek.
Munay-Ki
During these Community Plant Spirt Healing, Days the Munay-Ki rites will be offered - as this fulfills the watershed energy of spreading these rites quickly to whomever seeks them. Whenever you are gifted these rites you then have the ability to gift them to others.
I believe that these rites can be of great assistance to you in remembering your self as a multi-sensory, multi-dimensional being. And the Munay-Ki rites will make it much easier for you to hear the language of the plants.
Those of you who wish to may receive the First and Second Munay-Ki rites.
The First Munay-Ki rite is the Healer's Rite. This rite connects us to a lineage of Healer/EarthKeepers from throughout time. They awaken the healer within, initiating and/or deepening your journey of healing.
The Second Munay-Ki rite is The Bands of Power. In this rite, you receive bands of protection from each of five elements (earth, water, fire, air/wind, and pure light) that are installed in your Luminous Energy Field.
These Rites are voluntary and no one is required to receive them. Those who do not want to receive the Rites may join the Circle and hold the space for those receiving the Rites.
